Tim, for the holiday

The Replacements, Tim

Great record. I need to thank my wife for introducing me to this band, she totally rules. I can't think of a better way to spend this holiday morning/afternoon: blueberry pancakes, preparing Church's cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped jalapeƱos and cheesy flats for the BBQ, and listening to the A's vs. Yankees on the radio (despite the early 3 run lead the Yanks got on the board).

This record lifts you up quick, spins you around hard, and sets you down easy. Give it a try, you'll enjoy the ride.

Goodnight Unknown

Lou Barlow - Goodnight Unknown

Perfect mesh of beautifully produced lo-fi. However oxymoronic that might sound, it is true. Tasty balads, steady dull thump, touchy-feely lyrics. Reminds me of everything I love about the way this dude writes music. Not to mention, staring on drums, Mr. Dale Crover. Except for one track—and that track has the sticks of Murph bringin the beat.

there is a molten mess where my face used to be

First, my day started with a great surprise from my good friend StoPit in Nueve York. His band DUBKNOWDUB was to perform live on East Village Radio (I found out via text message, somehow that seems old school). I totally caught that set live, face melt #1 for the day—those guys are amazing.

Second, The Melvins performing Bullhead and Stoner Witch at the Great American Music hall. nothing left for a face, just a molten mess. Damn, those fuckers can rock. Righty drummer (D.Crover) lefty drummer (C.Willis) in perfect mirroring unison for 2 hours. King Buzzo slaying it! F'n bassist Jared Warren makes it look so easy. Those dudes freakin rule. I want my face back.

Oh, for the record this all happened on Wednesday 5/18. I finally feel like I have processed enough of what I absorbed yesterday to finally get this down. Keep on keeping on brother...

wadda ya mean, my lungs are fine

Fucking rad album.

Going to the show at The Great American Music Hall on Tuesday. The Melvins are touring with two shows in a variety of towns. One night performing Lysol/Eggnog/Houdini the other night performing Bullhead/Stoner Witch. Totally psych'd .

see you at the show...

comedy I mystery I thriller

A deaf mute cook, a blind butler, a total freak show host, five top notch detectives and their guests; what a brilliant star studded cast. This is not a record you might ask? Indeed no! Rules are meant to be broken. I have spent the entire day preparing for an upcoming exhibition of my art work and have had not an extra second in this day for anything other than art, baseball (I tuned in to a few games in the studio), and a movie with a late diner. Alas, I submit the original score for this wonderful comedy, mystery, thriller by Dave Grusin. The music is so key to each unexpected explanation, to each twist and turn along the way, and each slap stick jab. Watch this movie for the thrills, the spills, and the whim of the musical ride. You will not be disappointed.

Saturate Before Using

It is 10 to 6 and I basically just woke up. It sort of feels like the morning. I have wasted away the day. Waaaaaaaaaay too much whiskey last night. Drinking with friends is one of the best things that there is; the hangover is one of the worst—and this is one of the worst I have had in a long, long time. Can't do it like I used to. All that my body can handle right now are the sweet, sweet sounds of Mr. Jackson Browne. It seems like I am really working out some deep business with these first two posts. I only hope that you might take the time to enjoy these songs as I do. Truly a great record.

I am a child in these hills.
