More of an audio diary than a review, or critique. Each post is a product of the whim of my Sunday morning.

Le Sacre du Printemps
Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring is perhaps the beginning of everything musical as we know it. He really turned the establishment on its ear with this one. 45 years later, the NY Philharmonic, under direction of Leonard Bernstein, turned it on its ear once again. Or so the information super speedway tells me so. Can't say that I know this history by experience. Maybe now is the time to look a little deeper. For, on the morning of the eve, of the eve, of the eve, of the centennial anniversary of the premiere in Paris, I thought it most appropriate to give it a spin, once again.
To the birth of a new cycle. To the birth of new ideas. To the beginning of everything, all over again. Happy Spring. Happy Sunday.

Take Your Breath Real Slow
I learned yesterday that Superchunk will be releasing their 10th studio album this summer! Fantastic news!!! They will be touring and everything; basically keeping the dream alive. Just one major detail, that is they will be touring without Laura. It is hard to believe but, be it as it may, I think I need to swallow my teenaged crush ideals and buy some tickets anyway. They all bring a crazed dynamic to the stage but, it was her killer bass lines and energy throughout every set I ever witnessed that transcended those performances. I am sure that whoever they have chosen to be axe swinger is about as awesome as it gets. I can't wait for the 20th of August ...
Just to put things in perspective I spun this gem from 1991. Keep on rocking in the free world brother!

Sunday In, Sunday Out Again
June Of 44, Four Great Points. One great record, one great Sunday morning; overcast and waiting for the rain. Sunday evening feast on the way.

Hold Me Closer Tony Danza
As a product of the 70s I heard this album countless times during the formative years. Embracing the dark side, EJ takes it deep. Classic cuts, tasty riffs, and sweet hooks are all over this 'glory years' masterpiece.
Happy Sunday

Nope Nada Zilch
I didn't even listen to music today. I heard some music, involuntarily. I cleaned the house(boring)—kept the kid from emptying the records from the shelf—thought about picking one, and then left the house... for the whole day. Look again next week.
Cheers!

The 90's are Cool Again, Right?
Power pop punk to the rescue. Balanced by the delicate voices of Kim Warnick and Lulu Gargiulu, the glory days of guitar heavy chugga chugga are alive and well with the riffs of one Kurt Bloch. Of the 12-20 drummers that kept the beat, Mr. Mike Musburger is holding court nice and tight on the Fastbacks 1994 effort, Answer the Phone Dummy. A sonic roller coaster for this Sunday morning; wake up and smell the beer stains.
