Better Blog Than Never

Second effort since they reunited, me, I'm rejoicing. Loved this band in the glory days and love this band still. The official release is Tuesday, 10/1. For a time the A.V. Club is streaming the album in it's entirety. Check it out, it sounds really good. Not just good for nostalgic reasons tho. This record hits hard and spins thin, with a very distinctive warble that is so true to their sound.


For the record, I have been spinning records over the past weeks, just not bloggin'bout it. I've been too busy to maintain my super lax, once-a-week blog post. No matter how busy for the blogosphere, I am never to busy to lend my ear to some some hot licks and tasty riffs.

A couple of instant classics graced the dish over the past Sundays.

Penut Butter and Jelly Hotdog

I often overlook this record in the stacks but, not this morning. Strings and horns and Elvis, oh my! Sweet crooning and fine guitar strumming filled the house earlier today. A gentle reminder that there is a soft spot in my heart for country-blues-rock and roll (some, not all—some).

Keep Rolling Forever

The true gift of a golden voice fills our living room this morning. An iconic record that is nearly 40 years old stills sounds great, even on my shitty sound system. (Dang, I need some new speakers!) So sad that such a talented singer has been brought down with a terrible condition. Her voice will live on forever in the mountain of recordings she has made over the decades...

I Got Nothing Else So, I Guess, Here We Go

Studio album number ten is here! So stoked that they are still up to their old tricks, which still sound really good. But, then again, I am biased; I love this band! This summer just went from rad to awesome.

Fresh London Sounds, with a taste of Manchester

Couldn't be a darker Sunday, coming off the fuzzy warble. That is inside the apartment. Outside is a perfect summer day, ready for a chilled rosé. However, not before a spin of this hot new record by London's Savages. I am nearly speechless. So long it seems that something this rad had been released. Don't get me wrong, the nod to Manchester is of the utmost praise. This record holds a sound that is everything rad about post-punk, and not afraid of the dark side.
