Everybody Knows This is Thursday

For the record, I spun this disc on the morning of Sunday past. A glorious tribute to rock and roll.

Sunday Benediction

Long live the super group. I love it when musicians can say, hey we are pretty much the best there is doing what we do. Why not get together and make it deeper, darker, thicker, harder? Done.

Shrinebuilder. Redefining our place in space, a bit closer to the gods.

Sunday, Sun Daze, Space Jam

Perfect foggy record for a foggy Sunday morning: Unwound, Leaves Turn Inside You. Not sure if the fog helped the reverb drenched sounds or, the reverb attracted more fog. Either way, a great way to embrace the day. Where is Unwound today? 2091 is so far away...

Spacing Out To The Beat of a Different Drummer

Went to the record store to find something new. I ended up coming home with something from 1982.

Le Sacre du Printemps

Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring is perhaps the beginning of everything musical as we know it. He really turned the establishment on its ear with this one. 45 years later, the NY Philharmonic, under direction of Leonard Bernstein, turned it on its ear once again. Or so the information super speedway tells me so. Can't say that I know this history by experience. Maybe now is the time to look a little deeper. For, on the morning of the eve, of the eve, of the eve, of the centennial anniversary of the premiere in Paris, I thought it most appropriate to give it a spin, once again.

To the birth of a new cycle. To the birth of new ideas. To the beginning of everything, all over again. Happy Spring. Happy Sunday.

Take Your Breath Real Slow

I learned yesterday that Superchunk will be releasing their 10th studio album this summer! Fantastic news!!! They will be touring and everything; basically keeping the dream alive. Just one major detail, that is they will be touring without Laura. It is hard to believe but, be it as it may, I think I need to swallow my teenaged crush ideals and buy some tickets anyway. They all bring a crazed dynamic to the stage but, it was her killer bass lines and energy throughout every set I ever witnessed that transcended those performances. I am sure that whoever they have chosen to be axe swinger is about as awesome as it gets. I can't wait for the 20th of August ...

Just to put things in perspective I spun this gem from 1991. Keep on rocking in the free world brother!

Sunday In, Sunday Out Again

June Of 44, Four Great Points. One great record, one great Sunday morning; overcast and waiting for the rain. Sunday evening feast on the way.
